I was able to run Fallout 3 (the Steam version) with NO problems, other than the occasional game crash, which is no different than when I first played the game on XP when it first came out. THIS TIME, the Windows 10 64-bit driver DID load successfully. it said I need Java, I installed Java.eventually I gave up and just downloaded the driver for my card again. For some reason, the geForce autodetect feature from Nvidia does not work in either Windows 7 or 10.
The question mark went away, but to get full functionality, I also had to download the driver from Nvidia. I finally figured out I could find the Control Panel in Window 10 by typing "Control Panel" or "Device Manager" into the search field Anyway, the graphics cars again had a question mark, and the only card showing was the Intel card.įORTUNATELY, the update driver DID work in Windows 10 (sort of). It wouldn't install a new driver when I tried the automatic driver update from control Panel or when I downloaded and ran the file manually from Nvidia. I suspect that in preparation for Windows 10, an update changes something in Windows 7, because all of a sudden, my GeForce card showed up with a question mark under Device Manager. I had problems in Windows 7 before I upgraded to Windows 10.
I correctly suspected that this was due to my Nvidia GeForce bideo card. I tried following the ULTIMATE Fallout 3 Setup Guide READ THIS! on this forum, but nothing I did would get Fallout 3 to work.
